Now Hiring – Long-Term Care Ombudsman

The Southwestern Commission, located in Sylva, NC, serving a 7-county region, is seeking a qualified individual to fill the position of Long-Term Care Ombudsman in our Area Agency on Aging Department.  A Bachelor’s Degree in social work/human service field with 3+ years’ experience is preferred. This position serves as an advocate for residents of long-term care facilities and identifies, investigates, and works to resolve complaints made by or on behalf of residents. Applicant must be able to work independently, make informed decisions, understand complicated rules and regulations, multitask, be flexible with changes in schedule, have experience working with diverse populations, and be detail-oriented. Other responsibilities include staff education, public speaking, and volunteer development. Excellent computer skills are necessary. Starting salary DOE.
